Visual & Intrusive Inspections

Since water intrusion damage can escalate rapidly and your window of opportunity for recovering damages are limited, it's important to take action quickly.

If underlying damage is suspected a visual inspection may not be enough to accurately identify the full extent of problems.  In this instances having an intrusive investigation where materials are removed in order to understand the problem in its entirety may be necessary.  This type of investigation is commonly performed at exterior penetrations or building transitions where the weather resistive barrier (WRB) is most susceptible.

A water intrusion problem can rear its ugly head in a number of ways, whether it comes in the form of an angry resident complaining of staining, mold and mildew present in his or her unit, or obvious signs of decay visible from the exterior of a building.  Once identified as a problem, handling the issue promptly is critical to limiting damage and keeping repair costs under control.  Often times the extent of damage cannot be fully understood without the help of a building envelope professional to investigate the problem in depth.  This may include hiring a qualified contractor to perform a visual or intrusive investigation in order to diagnose whether problems have occurred as a result of faulty workmanship, product failure, or other causes.
